The first day of the Fes to Marrakech desert tour 2 days begins with an early departure from Fes as we head toward the Merzouga Desert. Our first stop is Ifrane, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco” due to its clean streets, alpine-style architecture, and cooler climate.

After a cup of coffee here, we will drive to Azrou to visit the cedar forest. You can walk for a short time among the trees to watch the Barbary monkeys and take photos before getting back on the road.

The journey continues toward Midelt via the Middle Atlas mountains, where you can stop for lunch and take a break before continuing the drive. Then, you will travel along the Ziz Valley, a long stretch of palm groves following the river.

You will reach Merzouga in the afternoon, where the golden dunes rise just outside the village. Your camels will be waiting to take you across the dunes to your desert Luxury camp. Once there, you can watch an amazing Sunset from the top of a high dune and try sandboarding.

After dinner at the camp, a campfire will be lit. Relax and enjoy the evening while local Berbers play drums and sing around the fire.

Today, waking up early is highly recommended to enjoy the beautiful sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, we will depart from the camp in a 4×4 vehicle and drive back to Merzouga village. From here, we will begin our journey to Marrakech. On the way, you will have many stops to take photos and rest.

By early afternoon, you will arrive in Ouarzazate for lunch. Then you will stop in Ait Benhaddou to see a panoramic view of the most famous Kasbah in Morocco. This historical site has appeared in movies and TV series like The Mummy, Prince of Persia, and Game of Thrones. It has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.
