ITINERARY OF THE 3 DAYS MERZOUGA DESERT TOUR FROM MARRAKECH

Begin your Marrakech Desert Tour 3 Days with an 8:30 am pick-up from your accommodation or wherever you are in Marrakech. We will drive through the fascinating High Atlas Mountains, reaching a high point called the Tizi-N-Tichka pass, which is 2260 meters above sea level. Stops will be made for panoramic views to see some lovely Berber villages on our way.

Then, we will visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Many famous movies were filmed here, like ‘Babel’ in 2006, Kingdom of Heaven’ in 2005, ‘Prince of Persia’ in 2010, and ‘Game of Thrones’ in 2012. You will have plenty of time to explore this historic Kasbah and its unique Moroccan architecture.

After a tasty lunch, we will head south along the ‘Road of a Thousand Kasbahs’ to Dades Valley, passing through Ouarzazate, Skoura Oasis, and the Valley of Roses in Kalaat M’Gouna. We reach Dades Boumalen in the afternoon. We will take you to a magic rock formation known as the Monkey Fingers, then we will head to your comfortable Riad.

On the second day of our 3 days desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga, we will drive through the Dades Valley towards Tineghir. On our way, we will stop at a spot overlooking the valley to enjoy the view of lovely Berber villages and a palm tree-filled oasis.

Then we continue to Todra Gorges. Here, you will have the opportunity to explore the dramatic Todgha Gorge, carved by the winding Todgha River, with cliffs plunging up to 300 meters deep. Feel free to wander through the gorges and explore the dramatic Todgha Canyon.

On the way to the Erg Chebbi Desert, we will drive through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinejdad. Free time for lunch on the way.
As we reach Merzouga in the afternoon, you will begin a camel trek across the golden dunes. During this camel trek, you will stop on a high dune to watch an amazing Sunset over the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Afterward, you will continue riding camels to the desert luxury camp, receiving a warm welcome with a cup of Moroccan tea.

Free time to relax, then following a delightful dinner, you can sit around a campfire with the local staff who will play drums and share stories under the starry sky. Dinner and overnight in the camp.

On the final day of your 3-day Marrakech desert tour, we highly recommend waking up early to contemplate the beautiful sunrise in the heart of the desert. Following a satisfying breakfast at the camp, you can choose to return to Merzouga village either by camel trek or in a comfortable 4×4 vehicle.

Depart from Merzouga, heading towards Rissani town, well known for its large ethnic souk. After that, we continue to Alnif, then along the Draa Valley. Feel free to ask your driver to make stops whenever you desire.

The lunch will be in Ouarzazate, then we will drive to Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains. Finally, we will drop you off at your accommodation, making the end of this Marrakech desert tour 3 days.

Yes, the tent at the Luxury camp is private and has a private bathroom with hot running water.

The camel ride is around 45 minutes to 1.5 hours long, depending on which camp you are staying in.

If you prefer not to ride a camel, a 4×4 vehicle is available to transfer you and your luggage to and from the camp.

During the camel ride, you will only take what’s necessary for the ride.
The rest of your luggage will be transported by the camp’s 4×4 and will be waiting for you upon arrival.

The vehicle will be either an SUV 4×4 or a Minivan, both with A/C.
